Quality Dental Care

You only want the best for your family in all things, including dental care. A lifetime of dental health begins with a solid foundation of quality dental care from a practice you can trust. Maine Dentistry provides comprehensive dental services for patients of all ages, so the whole family can come to the same place for all of their dental and oral health needs.

Benefits of Family Dentistry

There are many benefits to family dentistry, including:

  • One dental practice for the whole family. Enjoy the convenience of making appointments together and getting everyone’s dental needs taken care of in one visit.
  • No need for children to transfer later. Children who see a pediatric dentist will eventually need to transfer to an adult dentist. But children who go to a family dental practice can continue their care into adulthood at the same office.
  • Complete dental history on record. The longer you go to one dental practice, the more extensive the records of your dental history, allowing your dentist to provide you with the best possible care.

Services Offered

We provide the following dental services:

  • Preventive services. Dental cleanings and oral exams are preventive services, meaning the goal is to prevent dental problems from occurring. Early detection of oral health concerns makes them more easily treatable.
  • Restorative services. When the teeth are decayed or damaged, restorative services like cavity fillings and root canals restore the health of your teeth.
  • Cosmetic services. Procedures like teeth whitening and veneers help to improve the appearance of your teeth, making them cosmetic services.
  • Sleep services. We provide diagnosis and treatment of snoring and sleep apnea.
  • Invisalign. We are a certified Invisalign provider, offering this service to our patients who wish to improve the alignment of their teeth.
  • TMJ treatment. TMJ disorder refers to pain and limited movement of the temporomandibular joint, where the lower jaw connects with the skull. We provide treatment for this condition that offers lasting relief.

Dr. Katie Clark

Dr. Katie Clark was born and raised in Maine. She attended the University of Maine, graduating at the top of her class with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Following graduation, Dr. Clark went on to earn her D.M.D. degree from the University of New England.

Becoming a dentist has been Dr. Clark’s dream career since she saw a change in her own smile through orthodontics during her early teen years. Katie recalls being self-conscious of her smile growing up and enjoyed going to her dental appointments with the knowledge she was one step closer to a beautiful smile. Although Dr. Clark was only 15 years old at the time, she knew helping others confidence in their own smiles was her calling, and she is proud to realize her lifelong goal as a certified dentist.

Dr. Clark is dedicated to researching modern dental trends to provide the best, individualized care to her patients. Dentistry is not just a career, but a passion for Dr. Clark with a focus on providing a comfortable experience for patients who want to achieve their dream smile.

In her free time, Dr. Clark enjoys playing with her dog Boomer, trying new restaurants in Portland, and trying new recipes in the kitchen (suggestions are always welcome). An avid lover of all Maine’s seasons, her summer activities find her enjoying time by the water and in winter, snowmobiling with her family or attempting to ski.

TEST TEST
Vanessa Frost

Vanessa is our Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (or EFDA for short – Eff Duh). As the name implies, EFDAs serve additional functions in a dental office such as placing a white filling after the Dentist has removed the decay. To become an EFDA, rigorous requirements must be met, including successful completion of an accredited program to obtain state licensure, followed by mandatory continuing education. Procedures that an EFDA can perform in the state of Maine are checked upon completion by a licensed dentist.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I stop grinding my teeth?

Bruxism, or teeth grinding, is a common habit that is difficult to break because it usually occurs at night while you are sleeping and unaware. The best way to prevent the negative effects of teeth grinding is to wear a mouthguard that protects your teeth and cushions your jaw. We provide custom mouthguards for patients who grind their teeth.

When should I take my child to the dentist for the first time?

The American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend taking your child to the dentist by their first birthday or within 6 months of the eruption of their first tooth. This allows the dentist to identify any early dental concerns and to help children get used to routine dental care.

Why should I talk to a dentist about snoring and sleep apnea?

Snoring is a sign of sleep apnea, a symptom of a partially blocked airway while you sleep. The tongue and soft tissues of the mouth and throat relax and slide back while you’re sleeping, preventing you from breathing normally. We provide a sleep mouthguard that repositions your jaw and tongue to keep your airway open at night. Treating sleep apnea allows you to get better quality sleep and have more energy.

How often should I go to the dentist?

The recommended schedule for routine dental cleanings and exams is every 6 months. This is the frequency that is typically covered by your dental insurance if you have it. Professional dental cleanings remove plaque that forms on the teeth to prevent decay and gum disease. Oral exams identify any health concerns, including oral cancer, for which early detection is key.
