Maine Dentistry’s Smile Drive Campaign Raises $3K for Local Nonprofits

Another successful Smile Drive Campaign is in the books for Maine Dentistry. This year, our full-service restorative, preventative, and cosmetic dental practice raised $3,000 for three deserving Maine non-profit organizations. Money raised during our annual matching fundraising campaign was evenly split between three incredible organizations including the Root Cellar, the Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine, and the Gray Community Food Pantry.

Maine Dentistry Raises Money to Support Mainers Experiencing Food Insecurity

More than 18,000 Mainers rely on the Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine. The mission of the non-profit organization is to eliminate hunger in Maine by improving access to nutritious food for people in need, building strong community partnerships, and mobilizing the public in the fight to end hunger. The donation made by Maine Dentistry will provide 3,000 meals.

The Gray Community Food Pantry also received a $1,000 donation from funds raised by the staff at Maine Dentistry and matched by Maine Dentistry’s three dentists, Benjamin Lawlor, D.M.D.,  Katie Clark D.M.D., and  Amritha Minisandram, D.M.D.  The Gray Community Food Pantry provides curbside meals on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month to help those in need.

The donation to the Gray Community Food Pantry will pay for more than 750 meals for Mainers experiencing food insecurity.

Donation to The Root Cellar Helps Provide Dental Care to Those in Need in Portland

The Root Cellar, another deserving non-profit organization, also received a $1,000 donation from Maine Dentistry to support its dental clinic. The Root Cellar’s dental clinic, located in the Munjoy Hill neighborhood in Portland provides dental care for people without dental insurance.

Maine Dentistry’s Commitment to Giving Back

Maine Dentistry has a long history of service to others. Our founder, Dr. Lawlor knows what it is like to need a helping hand. Growing up in a large family that lived below the poverty level, he recalls his family relied on the generosity of organizations like those Maine Dentistry supports, when he was growing up.

As an adult, after serving ten years in the U.S. military, he’s continued to put service to others at the forefront of his life. He routinely travels to Guatemala on service trips where he provides dental care to children and adults. Other organizations and events supported by Maine Dentistry’s dentists include CDA Cares and Give Special Kids a Smile Day.  Maine Dentistry’s team of experienced dental hygienists, dental assistants, and administrative staff also volunteer their time and talents with a variety of charitable organizations in Maine.
